Winter & Cold
If your body-temperature status turns blue and the freezing warning appears, move to a burning heat source. Fires, furnaces and torches only provide heat while burning; an empty fuel supply stops the warmth. A roofed player base, an existing house or a vehicle interior also warms you, but more slowly than a fire.

What to do, in order
Prepare before winter: the announced cycle is Summer → Autumn → Winter → Spring, with 10 in-game days per season. Store fuel and secure a roofed place to wait out cold weather.
Separate outdoor weather from body heat. The season/weather panel at the upper right reports the surroundings; the permanent body-temperature icon at the lower left reports your character. Normal body temperature is 36–38°C in the announcement.

Official EA preview: the outdoor panel reads snow / −4°C while the body-temperature icon reads 36.0°C. These are different measurements. When cold starts draining your body heat, move close to an actively burning fire, furnace or torch. Check that the source still has fuel and is actually burning. A placed but extinguished source does not provide warmth.
If a burning source is unavailable, get inside a house, a player base with a roof or a vehicle. These shelters warm you more slowly than a fire. Stay sheltered while your body-temperature warning clears.
Restock the heat source before the next outing and keep trips short enough to return. Winter brings long snowfalls and short clear spells in the announced weather system.
Wait until the warning clears
Your body-temperature indicator returns to its normal white state and the persistent freezing warning disappears. You also have fuel and a sheltered return point for the next trip.
If you are still freezing
If a nearby fire does not help, verify that it is burning rather than merely placed. If you are relying on a player base, check that it has a roof. Do not read the outdoor weather temperature as the body-temperature health-drain threshold; watch the character’s separate status.
