Healing & Water
For the announced EA medical rebalance, use a Bandage to stop bleeding and a Painkiller to cure poison or infection. A Sterile Bandage treats bleeding and infection together. Drink directly at a lake or river, and fill a Thermos there for three portable drinks.

What to do, in order
Match the medicine to the effect, not just your missing health. The values below are the October 27 EA rebalance; older Demo values differ.

EA medical choice Item Healing Treatment / known ingredients Bandage 25 HP over 4 s Stops bleeding; 2 Cloth. Does not cure poison. Sterile Bandage 40 HP Bleeding + infection; Bandage + Alcohol. Painkiller 35 HP over 12 s Poison + infection; exact new crafting quantities were not published. Med-Kit 8-second healing 2 Sterile Bandages + 1 Painkiller + 2 Duct Tape; treats poison. Adrenaline Syringe 20 HP instantly Faster stamina recovery for 60 seconds. Put an available treatment on the hotbar and use its quick-action key when you need it. Healing items generally restore health over time; wait for their healing progress rather than expecting every treatment to heal instantly. The EA announcement adds a Medical Workbench for medical crafting; use its current recipe list for quantities not published in the devlog.
Avoid eating raw food: the status-effects update says it poisons you. Mushrooms have a reported 30% poisoning chance in that official update. Cook food rather than treating every find as ready to eat.
Face a lake or river and use the Drink Water prompt. To travel with water, fill a Thermos at the same source. Each full Thermos has 3 uses; return to water to refill it after those uses.
For repeated supply runs, keep food, water and medicine in storage. Workers use their own inventory first and then restock at the nearest chest. Carry supplies directly for other NPC roles rather than assuming the Worker-only chest rule applies to everyone.
Before the next supply run
The unwanted status has cleared, healing has progressed and you leave with drinking water available. For a longer trip, make the next refill location part of the route.
If the effect does not clear
If poison remains after a Bandage, the treatment is wrong: use a Painkiller or Med-Kit in the EA rebalance. If you have a Thermos but no water action, aim at the actual lake or river rather than dry ground. If the UI disagrees with the devlog, check whether your build uses the older Demo rules.
