Fishing
Equip a Fishing Rod and face a lake or river. Hold Cast Line to charge, release into water, then wait past the fake nibbles for the hook icon. Hook in time and keep the moving fish icon inside the green zone until the catch meter fills. Stay still: movement, jumping and damage interrupt fishing.

What to do, in order
Start with a Fishing Rod already available in your inventory or hotbar, then equip it. This route covers casting and landing a catch with that rod.
Face a lake or river until Cast Line (Hold) appears alongside Drink Water. Hold the cast action, then release to send the bobber into water. A bobber on dry ground reels back automatically; farther casts can produce bigger fish.

Early twitches are fake nibbles; pulling at those scares fish away. When the hook icon appears, react in time using the fishing action shown by the game.
During the reel-in stage, hold the action to move the green zone right and release it to let the zone drift left. Follow the moving fish icon so it stays inside that zone; the catch meter must fill. If the meter drains, the line snaps.

To delegate, choose Raw Fish in the NPC loot filter or Loot Order. Supply a rod in that NPC’s inventory/backpack or a nearby chest. It goes to the nearest shore and returns Raw Fish; it keeps the rod instead of putting it back into storage.
Collect the catch
The catch meter fills and Raw Fish appears in your bag, or at your feet if the bag was full. An NPC fishing order should return Raw Fish to storage.
If the line or order fails
A dry-ground cast reels back; face the actual water. If nothing bites after twitching, you may be pulling at fake nibbles. If fishing suddenly stops, check movement, jumps or damage. If an NPC says it needs a rod, check its own inventory/backpack and nearby chest rather than only your player inventory.
