Game Modes
Choose Campaign if you want a recoverable first run: death drops carried belongings into a marked sack and you respawn near a marked sleeping place or the Bonfire. In Survival, the store says death is final and the world resets to zero, so the Campaign sack-recovery route does not apply.

| Question | Campaign | Survival |
|---|---|---|
| Death result | You respawn and continue the world. | Death is final; the world resets to zero. |
| Carried items | Hotbar, inventory and equipped backpack drop in a Belongings Sack. Worn armor stays on you. | No recoverable post-death route is stated. |
| Return point | Marked bed, Sleeping Bag or tent; otherwise Bonfire. | No respawn point after final death. |
| Recovery | Each Campaign death leaves its own marked, saved sack. | A new world starts after death; do not rely on a sack return. |
Choose before your first supply run
The store defines the two modes. The later death-system devlog describes the Campaign-style respawn and sack behavior; it does not override Survival permadeath. For your first recovery-oriented playthrough, choose Campaign and mark a sleeping place before a long trip.
If Campaign goes wrong
Use the world-map or minimap marker to reach the sack. Each death makes a separate sack and the official devlog says they are saved with the game. Take back your hotbar, inventory and equipped backpack items. The death-recovery guide gives the return sequence and failure checks.
